Sandy gets involved with Vic and Nigel the troubled teenage motorbikers. They come up with a plan to give Fairlawns breakfast a salty awakening but it doesn’t go to plan.

Benny Wilmot is sought by Comet Records to record a demo record in London. It gives Carlos ideas of also becoming a star of singing types, however, when he tries to woo the coffee bar crowd the electrics have other ideas.

Stevie Harris is more interested in science fiction programmes than wanting to talk to Sandy. She’s very into Lost in Space.

William Fothergill is visited by an old friend, but it is one he seems keen to hide from while Brian and Janice are offered a rotten house but it isn’t quite as it seems.

Meg thinks Hugh has walked back into her life to offer her romance, but is disappointed when he just wants to offer a business compromise. She’s not in any mood for his car hire chatter.

Christine Palmer gets her job back at the motel, but Ralph being an old-fashioned sort thinks her place is behind the kitchen sink at home – not in the motel.

Sandy has been blamed for stealing money from Fairlawns Hotel following his little plan to get revenge on owner Hugh Mortimer following the latter’s fall-out with Meg Richardson. His innocence is proved when two unlikely people come together to get to the bottom of the theft.

Following Benny Wilmot’s success at a pop career Carlos has been also looking to become a music star. He decides to launch himself as ‘The Spanish Singing Chef’ but Marilyn isn’t convinced he has what it takes to be popular – singing well would be an advantage for a start.

Kings Oak and surrounding areas are hit with a huge flood – the worst in living memory – with both the canal and River Slotter bursting their banks. The motel becomes a makeshift place of refuge for locals who have been flooded out of house and home.

Meg has been invited to London for a long weekend by Jill. It turns into an even longer stay for Meg when she has a health problem that needs hospital treatment.

Vic and Woody continue to cause problems for Sandy and later Carlos when his grand appearance at That Place Coffee Shop descends into a full-on riot and there is more violence when a drunk smashes up the restaurant in a rage leaving Ruth and Marilyn running scared.

A relative of Hugh Mortimer arrives at the motel looking for work – but he doesn’t want anyone to know they are family and asks Hugh to keep quiet. Michael wishes to get into hospitality on his own terms – without a help-up from Uncle Hugh.
