For the 60th anniversary, we decided to create a ‘mini’ Crossroads Motel. The focus of the 1:12 scale model is the ‘sitting room’ – a mainstay of the original series from late 1965 through to early 1982.
Model Concept
Forever associated with Meg Richardson our vision sees it as if it had been restored to the storylines in the 2001 Carlton series as a base for Jill Chance, Meg’s daughter.
The fictional storyline for the introduction of this set would see Jill return to Kings Oak as she did in 2001 and need somewhere to stay. She would later work in the hair salon at the hotel and as a shareholder she has, as all other working shareholders, the option for accommodation at the hotel however there isn’t anywhere left – other than the ground floor of the old house, which has been for decades used as a storage area and isn’t in the best of shape.
Over the weeks the rooms are seen to be transformed into an area for Jill and Adam Chance – now reunited – to reside. The old office area becomes a kitchen diner and bathroom while the old dining room, which after Sandy was left disabled became his bedroom, becomes Jill and Adam’s bedroom. Meg’s sitting room becomes ‘the Chance’s’ sitting room.
