Crossroads: The Noele Gordon Collection DVD sells out
The DVD has seen all known existing ATV episodes of Crossroads released along with a host of extras. Starring the immortal Noele Gordon as Meg Richardson, the trials and tribulations of the Midlands’ premier motel, its staff and patrons enthralled, amused and sometimes horrified millions of viewers for the best part of three decades.
A huge presence on ITV from the 1950s onwards, Gordon consistently won viewer awards through the ’60s and ’70s for her performance and the series with which she is forever linked. Nearly two decades in the making, Crossroads: The Noele Gordon Collection is an exclusive box set of 94 discs – over 700 shows – containing every known existing episode from the earliest surviving show through to Gordon’s final performance in late November 1981.
The set carries on however until the last show transmitted by ATV on New Year’s Eve 1981, a real end of an era with Central Television taking over the Midlands’ ITV region the next day. Alongside this treasure trove of episodes are a wealth of special features, including Noele’s return – the episodes filmed in Venice in 1983, original trailers, inserts and promotions.
There are also archive interviews with Noele Gordon and two documentaries, Thirty Years On from 1994 and Revisited from 1985. The release also contains a photo book with rare photographs from the ATV archives.
