Carol Royle switches Kings Oak for Weatherfield
Carol Royle who played Diane Lawrence the lover of Patrick Russell (Neil McCaul) in 2001 episodes of the motel set saga has joined Salford-based Coronation Street.
Over in Weatherfield Carol portrays Anthea Deering the mother of Joel (Calum Lil). Royle debuted on-screen in the ITV Granada production last night (May 5th 2024). The storylines have recently shown Joel as apparently being behind the murder of Lauren Bolton.
Her death saw innocent café owner Roy Cropper (David Neilson) wrongly accused and put in custody awaiting trial for her murder. Roy is out, and another is in the frame, but how long will it take for Anthea and the rest of Coronation Street to discover the grim truth?
Other TV appearances for Carol include in fellow midland saga Doctors for BBC One, the sixties set drama Endeavor for ITV – which itself has an episode which features Kings Oak and the Crossroads Motel – and a stint way back in ATV’s daytime period soap The Cedar Tree between 1977 and ’78.
